Finally got round to fitting my steering wheel on Sunday. Honestly, I don't know what I was all so paranoid about! Took about 1 hour and 10 minutes to do, and that included disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes during which time I sorted out the centre vent (was a bit loose and needed a new u-fastener).

Any hows, this is what I've been putting up with - my old steering wheel:

Now replaced with this one:

I used the new clockspring (the one that would have been fitted to this steering). Everything works as it should (signals cancelling etc). There maybe a very slight scrubbage but then again my power steering pump is more noisier so I can live with that (I'm not convinced the noise is from the steering anyway when I listened closely to be honest ).

I forgot to put the black cover bit on the steering bolt back on though. I was going to leave it off but might fit it back over the weekend as apparently it it suppose to protect against any wires shorting out on the rack Confused . This is the bit I mean:

My only slight worry is that because the clock spring is different and therefore the top airbag connector is not compatible, it doesn't 'click' into place. I hope it doesn't come undone over bumps! Should have taped it down or something!

Oh, and no airbag lights either Cool

looking good. Cool have you connected the controls ? My old wheel had worn through in the same place because i always do fast turns with the pad on my hand.

You could drop a little superglue on the airbag connection to hold it in place....just a small amount that could be cut or filed away if you need to release it in the future.

Not connected the controls - too much hassle! And I don't think they would work anyway unless the head unit could be controlled via infra-red anyway Confused

Brilliant idea about the glue . That stuff they use on circuit boards (the clear gum type stuff) is that easily available or is it just normal silicone?

i would just use normal superglue. Halfords or whsmiths would have it. It`s only a small tube or bottle.
